Privacy Policy
Last updated: 05 June 2026
This privacy policy explains how personal data is collected and processed when you visit this website or sign up for the newsletter. All processing complies with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR, Regulation (EU) 2016/679).
1. Data controller
The party responsible for processing your data is:
- Name: Arend Jan Steenhuisen
- Address: Carrer Major 4, 17251 Calonge, Spain
- Email: hola@arend.casa
2. What data we collect
Data you provide yourself
When you sign up for the newsletter or request the guide, we collect your email address. This is the only piece of data you actively provide to us.
Data collected automatically
If you give consent for analytics cookies, we collect anonymised usage data through Google Analytics (such as pages visited, approximate location at country level, device type and how you arrived at the site). Without your consent, none of this is collected.
3. Why, and on what legal basis
| Purpose | Data | Legal basis (GDPR Art. 6) |
|---|---|---|
| Newsletter and sending the guide | Email address | Consent (Art. 6.1.a) |
| Improving website statistics | Analytics data | Consent (Art. 6.1.a) |
Sign-up uses a double opt-in: you first receive a confirmation email and are only added once you confirm. You can withdraw your consent at any time.
4. Recipients and processors
We do not share your data with third parties for commercial purposes. We use the following processors, who process data on our behalf under a data processing agreement:
- Brevo (Sendinblue SAS, France) — for managing the newsletter and sending email. Brevo is based in the EU.
- Google Analytics (Google Ireland Ltd.) — for website statistics, only after your consent.
- Selva Digital — for hosting the website.
Where data is processed outside the EEA (for example by Google), this is done on the basis of the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses.
5. Retention period
We keep your email address for as long as you remain subscribed. After you unsubscribe, we delete your data within a reasonable period. Analytics data is retained according to the settings in Google Analytics (by default up to 14 months).
6. Your rights
Under the GDPR you have the right to:
- Access your data
- Correct inaccurate data
- Erase your data ("right to be forgotten")
- Restrict or object to processing
- Data portability
- Withdraw your consent at any time
You can exercise these rights by emailing hola@arend.casa. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority, in Spain the Spanish Data Protection Agency (AEPD).
7. Cookies
This website uses cookies. Please read our cookie policy for the details and to manage your preferences.
8. Changes
We may update this privacy policy from time to time. The most recent version will always be on this page, with the date of the last change shown at the top.
